Resetting The Canterbury Tales: Stage 3

My general idea is a group stuck in the airport during a blizzard, thus delaying there flight. Unable to get on their plane, or go home, they gather in the local tavern in the airport to tell jokes and stories and the person who tells the funniest story or joke is bought a drink by everyone else.

  1. This is very similar to Chaucer's setting, except for the modern twist of course, in the sense that the characters are travelling and stop at a tavern. I like the opportunity here for anachronistic elements, as that further adds to the humor of the story. Perhaps some modern twists on the characters or their conflicts would enhance your new setting. Also, I like that you maintain Chaucer's subtle use of alcohol to effect the dynamic of the story.

  2. The airport is a place where you find a wide range of people. Like the public house, it is busy and colorful. Be sure to discuss these similarities in your final draft.
